Welcome to Dr. Ammar Anbari’s website dedicated to robotic shoulder replacements. Dr. Anbari has been a partner at Orthopedic Partners (formerly Norwich Orthopedic Group) in North Franklin, CT since 2006. He has performed about 1900 shoulder replacements and revisions in the past 20 years. In addition to shoulder replacements, Dr. Anbari specializes in Sports Medicine and has performed over 10,000 shoulder, knee and hip arthroscopic surgeries on patients of all ages.

Dr. Anbari has been working as a design consultant with the Stryker Upper Extremity division on the Shoulder Mako Arthroplasty Project since 2019.  He performed the first robotic assisted shoulder replacement in New England. He also performed the first robotic shoulder replacement in an outpatient surgery center in the world at Constitution Surgery Center East in Waterford, CT.

Surgical Design

A cat scan is taken before surgery and imported into the Tornier BluePrint software to plan the robotic case.

Robot Plan

The BluePrint plan is imported into the robot where further modifications can be made to the plan before surgery.

Mako Surgery

Once the plan is finalized, the robot is used to perform the preparation of the shoulder socket bone.
